CALI RUSH on Kickstarter!

Hello Friends,

I'd like to take a second to tell you about a new movie project I'm working on called CALI RUSH. CALI RUSH Movie is a celebration of California and some of its most adventurous and talented athletes, spectacular landscapes and diverse wildlife. The movie features athletes who are in search of the Ultimate rush as well as a more harmonious relationship with the Natural world through sports, lifestyle, recreation and environmental technology. Join this modern day tribe of adventurers as they explore some of California's most wild and beautiful places in search of epic conditions and the ultimate ride. CALI RUSH features all human-powered sports that work in harmony with the flows of nature, don't rely on gasoline and create the least amount of impact. This HD multi sports adventure movie follows the changing of the seasons through some of California's most wild and beautiful places and highlights some of the burliest action sports and progressive athletes our state has to offer.

CALI RUSH is like a California Adventure Film Festival all rolled into one package. The Movie is broken up into 12 different chapters that represent the different months of the year. Each chapter features a different sport and location. I've been working on this movie project for over 3 years now from concept to execution. It's been a fun but huge and sometime overwhelming task to gather all this footage. I've filmed a good portion of the movie myself and the rest is footage I'm buying from other film makers who specialize in the different sports we're featuring.

We really appreciate the support from the fans of BURL Productions. Writing, Filming, Directing and Producing movies like SOULFISH and CALI RUSH is not easy. Luckily most of the hard work for CALI RUSH Movie is already done. We have all of our footage and are now in the post production phase. So far this project has been independently funded. I personally have hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars invested. I've had to keep working full time and fund the film through BURL Productions, which is one of the reasons it's taken so long to complete. Now we are at a stage where i need some help. Please take a minute to check out our kickstarter page. This is an independent funding platform for creative projects such as this collaborative movie. You can pre order a DVD or Download, poster, shirt or another of the great rewards from the site. It's going to be a great movie and i'm sure you won't regret owning a copy. You can also become an associate producer of this creative project or sign on as a sponsor and marketing partner. With your help we can Kickstart finish this one of a kind movie.

The target dollar amount of our kickstarter goal is the minimum we need at this point to finish the film. The money is going to finishing the final edit, which is already over half way done. Then paying the rest of the additional footage and music licenses, graphic design for box, poster and shirts, motion graphics, color correction, final audio mix, master render and finally some DVD's, marketing and web updates. Additional funds raised will go to kicking off a tour for the movie. The more we get, the better the venues will be and the better the bands we can bring in. We plan on also having an art show accompany the movie at most venues and many of the shows will also feature live music or a DJ set. Our goal is to bring together the outdoor community for celebrations of California's art, music, sports and natural environment, which make it possible for us all to live the dream.

Please take a moment to check out our kickstarter and make a pledge if your situation allows.

Josh Daiek Wins World Free Skiing Comp at Kirkwood

This was a historic weekend for Tahoe. Once again the World Free Skiing Championship comes to Kirkwood for it's last stop of the year. This event in one of the things Kirkwood is most known for. It's the only time of the year when the legendary Kirkwood Cirque is open. Skiers and boarders wait all year and stare at this steep rocky bowl, dreaming of the lines they would ride. Kirkwood Local ski shred and California Green Rush athlete Josh Daiek is no stranger to this competition. He and local Legend Craig Garbiel have been on the circuit for years now, tearing it hard and representing Kirkwood style at every event. Once a year the tour comes to Kirkwood and boys get to throw it down in front of the home town crowd. The tour was set back one day due to a perfect winter storm that blessed our slopes with a few feet of fresh cold sierra goodness. Tour veteran Graig "Garbonz" Garbiel was already qualified for the finals from a previous event. Baby J had to ride the Lookout Vista to Qualify on Saturday. With a beautiful fresh coat of powder, Josh ripped top to bottom and sent a huge 3 over some rocks, taking the first place spot for the day and solidifying a spot in the finals. Day two they switched things up from the usual format and dropped all skiers from the lookers left drop in at Carnels Shoot on top of the Cirque. Named after long time local and one of Kirkwoods first ski patrols, John Carnel. Craig ripped a super solid top to bottom line. Coming off the ridge, airing over Meat Grinder, then sending a huge air off lower Franks, then blasting Kodak cliffs with one of the biggest airs possible. It was a super impressive line. But this year belonged to Josh. He ripped one of the most solid lines ever thrown down in this comp. Top to bottom power turns, a huge air off Franks alternate and another monster super stomper off Kodak. Josh clocked the highest score of the entire comp and kept himself in first place. He also scored a Sick Bird nomination. Sitting in first, Josh dropped last on day 3. With the pressure of the entire event laying on his shoulders, he held it together and ripped another solid top to bottom destroyer run from Hour Glass on down to the finnish line where he was met by all the Kirkwood local for a huge celebration. It's like it was known before they even announced the results. Josh ended up winning the comp and scoring the Sick Bird award. Way to go Baby J. Super solid.

Here's a video of Josh's run on Sunday.

Tough Mudder Lauren

Celebrating 10-10-10, Green Rush sponsored athlete Lauren de Remer ran as a participant in the toughest one day event in America better known as Tough Mudder (www.toughmudder.com) held at Bear Valley Ski Resort. Tough Mudder is billed as one of the longest hardest events of this sort in the World. It's a human powered race testing the will and endurance of it's competitors through a 7 mile obstacle course. Lauren is one tough gal and a fierce competitor. Here's some shots of her painted up and ready for battle. Keep an eye out for Lauren in the lake tahoe section of California Green Rush the movie, scheduled to be released this winter.

Jeremy Jones goes Deeper

Just caught the World Premier in Turckee of TGR's new movie Deeper featuring Jeremy Jones and friends. Deeper was a two year snowboard video project Shot in California, France, Alaska and the Antarctic. It features some of the biggest names in freeriding taking it to the next level of mountaineering and riding. All the runs in the video were hiked. Some required huge assents or even camping in the snow for a month at a time. It's yet another epic in the saga of big mountain rider Jeremy Jones. Much of the footage featured in the film was shot by Green Rush friend Chris Edmonds. Keep an eye out for a showing near you. tetongravity.com

Mt. Bike Session

Here's a few photos from our film session on some secrete trails built by the riders pictured here.
Joe Markus dropping the road gap on the jump trial.
Tarren Closson hauling ass into the snowboard kicker.
Jaycob Daiek airing out over the valley view.
Josh Daiek(Baby J), younger brother, bustins some air on the trick trail.
Coery Dicks busting a tight air into the pocket over the side gap.
Corey sending it off the massive road gap.
Mike Olson, long time tahoe mt.bike shred getting sideways on the snowboard kicker.
Mike O had been busting the snowboard jump all day. On his last jump of the day he blasted a huge air and got a little squirrely. Lost his foot on the peddle and came down chest first on his seat.
The result was a punctured lung and three broken ribs.
The day would have been allot more eco friendly if it wasn't for the life flight out of this remote area. Mt. Biking is no joke. These guys are really throwing it out there. Huge sketchy jumps with sharp rocks and trees all around. One mistake can take you out for the rest of the season. Thankfully Mike has made a full recovery and is back on the trails doing what he loves.
